MEADOW BROOK

VAIL, CO

The design of this home was strongly influenced by its site. The lot is subdivided and sits on an approximately 35-40% slope. In combination with the desired program requirement, the location of the building envelope with respect to adjacent properties resulted in a unique assignment.

The property is oriented north-south with the entry of the home forced on the north side. In order to create an architecture where the garage wasn’t the primary focus and to improve the presence of the home from the street, a neutral and organic color palette was created to capture light. Tight knot cedar siding with metal panel accents enriched by board-form concrete serves this function.

The circumstances of the site resulted in a minimalist aesthetic with Scandinavian elements: functionality, natural materials, texture, light-enhancing opportunities, abandonment of eaves, and clean lines.

Project under construction.
